Title: Used Codec
Post by: QNT on January 09, 2018, 02:32:51 PM
Hello,

I have several files of which I don't know which codec has been used for these files.

Is there a way to use Audio editing components to detect the codec used for these file?

Regards,

Reason for my question is that I want to convert the 'unknown' files to .WAV files....

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

the GetFileType method can be used to retrieve the format of the loaded sound file while the GetFileInfo method can be used to retrieve further information, including the codec for sound files in WMA format.

Hope this helps.

Hi Severino, do those methods work on corrupted and damaged files as well?

Hello,

this depends upon the level of corruption/damage of involved files.
